Dr. Eugene A. Dunkley, DPhil, is a professor, biomedical scientist, academic leader, and ordained minister with more than three decades of experience in higher education, research, and global service. He has served at Greenville University since 2001, holding key leadership roles including Dean of Diversity, Chair of the Biology Department, Faculty Moderator, and member of the President’s Council. He has developed innovative science programs, mentored students in pre-health professions, and promoted dialogue between science and faith.
A Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Dunkley taught and conducted research at the University of Malawi College of Medicine, collaborating on genomic research and supporting educational and community development initiatives. His earlier career included academic and research appointments in the United Kingdom, including work at the University of Oxford.
In addition to his academic work, Dr. Dunkley serves in healthcare governance and nonprofit leadership and is an ordained Elder in the Free Methodist Church USA. As pastor of Coffeen Free Methodist Church, he has led numerous international mission initiatives. His career reflects a lifelong commitment to scientific scholarship, student mentorship, faith-based leadership, and global engagement.
Rev. Jennifer Dunkley is an ordained minister and humanitarian with a decade of pastoral experience and a deep commitment to missions and youth development. She co-founded Agape House in Malawi, providing shelter, care, and hope to orphans and street-connected children, and established Agape Youth Clubs, a growing international ministry serving children and teens across Africa and Pakistan through Bible teaching, worship, mentorship, and recreational programs. Her compassionate service has been recognized with the Kaskaskia College Humanitarian Award, and she is also a children’s book author, inspiring young minds through her writing.

Our Work
Agape Scholars International was born out of a life-changing season in 2009, when Dr. Eugene Dunkley and his wife, Rev. Jennifer Dunkley, lived in Malawi for eleven months. During that time, Dr. Dunkley served as a visiting professor at the University of Malawi College of Medicine, while Jennifer ministered through a local charity serving street-connected children.
As they immersed themselves in the community, the Dunkleys were deeply moved by the overwhelming number of children wandering and begging on the streets of Blantyre. Compelled by faith and compassion, they established Agape House, a school created to offer education, safety, and renewed dignity to some of Malawi’s most vulnerable children. What began as a single act of obedience quickly became a beacon of hope for children in desperate need of love, stability, and opportunity.
Today, that original vision has grown into a thriving ministry that includes a residential home for street-connected children, youth clubs, after-school programs, and a preschool, transforming lives and communities through education, discipleship, and compassionate care.
